As lead geologist technical consultant, TRE have assessed and proposed a system to harness minewater thermal energy from surface discharges coming from nearby abandoned coal mines, which can be used by the Prestongrange Industrial Heritage Museum for low-carbon heating. Plans are now in place to assess the possibility of expanding the use of this clean, renewable heat resource for the wider East Lothian communities.
