TRE have undertaken a geological assessment and options appraisal of low-carbon heat network options for the village of Grantchester. Grantchester Parish Council were awarded funding as part of the Rural Community Energy Fund (RCEF) which looks to support rural communities across England in setting up renewable energy projects in their area. The assessment analysed closed loop, open loop, river source and air source heat pump systems in terms of their viability specifically for Grantchester. The recommended results were to progress with a river source heat pump system as this boasted the most ideal subsurface and surface conditions for implementation.
